Student Jobs: Multiple Positions

Mtech Ventures and UMD I-Corps are seeking several students to join our team. Mtech Ventures operates the technology accelerator on campus supporting companies founded by University of Maryland faculty and students. The I-Corps program is deeply rooted in that process and provides training for researchers as they embark on their entrepreneurial journeys. Also part of this program is the Chesapeake Bay Seed Capital Fund, which invests in startup companies developing technologies that improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay.
We’re looking for several students to fill many roles. All students on the team will have many cross-cutting responsibilities to support programs and participants and the opportunity to help commercialize cutting-edge innovations. Some specific roles that need to be filled on the team include:
Data Mining Programming/Data Extraction and Analytics
Skills required:
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with Pandas, BeautifulSoup, and Selenium
- Familiarity with database storage for managing mailing lists
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Information Presentation and Design
Skills required:
- Graphic design
- Visual storytelling/infographics: Ability to convey information through compelling visuals and narratives
- Data visualization
Meeting/Event Support
Skills required:
- Adaptability/resourcefulness
- Vendor management
- Event communication/marketing
Marketing Communications
Skills required:
- Refined writing and presentation skills
- Market trends: understanding of current market trends and consumer behavior
- Competitor analysis: ability to analyze competitors and understand their market positioning
Customer Discovery
Skills required:
- Active listening: ability to listen carefully to customers and understand their perspectives without bias
- Interpersonal skills: ability to engage with customers in a friendly and approachable manner
- Interviewing skills: proficiency in conducting interviews to gather in-depth customer insights
- Qualitative research: understanding of qualitative research methods, including interviews and focus groups
