MARYLAND TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE

Twelve high-tech early stage companies were showcased at Mtech’s “Startups @ Maryland” event at Maryland Day, held on April 29, 2023.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of Maryland Day, the University of Maryland's largest community outreach event. Alumni, friends, family and neighbors of all ages come to campus for a daylong celebration. Thousands attend each year.

During the event, startups took over the first floor of Mtech’s Herbert Rabin Technology Advancement Building. Attendees who walked in were greeted by a plethora of hands-on demonstrations from participating companies, including:

• 3D Flexible’s platform for manufacturing flexible electronics,
• Alertus’ mass-notification devices,
• Juxtopia’s wearable for nursing instruction,
• Maryland Energy and Sensor Technologies’ LEGO robot that performs science by itself,
• Mobile Comfort’s RoCo Roving Thermal Comfort Device,
• N5 Sensors’ wildfire-detection device,
• Neighborhood Sun’s community solar offerings,
• NextGlass’s next-generation window panes,
• NextStep Robotics’ portable ankle robot,
• Resensys’ strain-detecting sensors,
• SVE Technology’s sleeve valve engine, and
• VisiSonics’ audio camera.
